A complete update converts this small sunroom into a year round family room with a new furniture plan designed to maximize seating opportunities.
The color scheme for the living room of this c 1803 farmhouse estate, was taken from the Mercer tile fireplace, the tile colors reflected in the timeless linen upholstery of the sofa and pleated club chairs as well as the Romanian rugs. The furnishings reflect the traditional origins of the house.
The scheme is reflected as well in the adjacent dining room which features an antique gate leg table and English chairs upholstered in the same linen as the living room sofa. A coordinating Romanian rug warms the beautiful wood floors.
We completely reinvented this master bedroom by skim coating walls in plaster to smooth, then painting the them a velvety cocoa brown, designing a custom headboard in yellow, gold and ivory silk, creating a new duvet in gold damask with pillows in gold, ivory and blue, and echoing all of these colors in a marvelous Aubusson rug whose expansive design enlarges the room visually. The soft silk Roman shades reflect the color scheme. A custom brown chenille and velvet throw accommodates the family dogs. A new lighting plan included tiny Halogen tracks for the ceiling, swing-a-way lamps for the side tables and sconces for the window wall.
We further expanded the room visually by eliminating solid closet doors and replacing them with glass paned French doors with coordinating stretch curtains in gleaming silk.
